Epic [ep-ik] (noun, adjective, adverb)
1. noting or pertaining to a long poetic composition
2. heroic; majestic; impressively great
3. Season 2019 - Orchestra Wellington
Look around the hall at any Orchestra Wellington concert - the support of our huge audiences inspire us to seek ever higher levels of artistic excellence.
It also inspires me to come up with programmes that will (hopefully) delight you and keep the audiences at record numbers.
How can we follow the success of previous seasons? It’s clear to me that we have to pull out all of the stops. So, for 2019 we are going big.
Each concert will showcase works that are so enormous, so important, and so pivotal to music, that the only word that could be used to describe them is EPIC.
Your orchestra has the most innovative pricing structure in Australasia, and the easiest way to take advantage of it is to purchase subscriptions early. The catch is that we don’t say too much about the programme to begin with - and as we divulge more information, our prices go up!
I’ll give you a few hints, though.
This theme of epic proportions features the original epic symphony and its sequel, the greatest orchestration ever, a mammoth symphony born of defiance, and a work acknowledged as the pinnacle of its type.
An Epic audience deserves an Epic season - I hope that you share our excitement for 2019 - #EPIC!
